Cut Printed Patterns With Greater Precision

By comparison, traditional CNC cutting often needs the workpiece to be precisely positioned before machining. When the printed pattern contains irregular contours or deviations, this manual positioning is not only time-consuming but may also lead to alignment errors.

A CNC router with a camera uses a CCD vision positioning system to scan the printed image and identify its edges before cutting. The machine can then generate the corresponding cutting path around the detected pattern, making it particularly useful for printed PVC boards, KT boards, advertising panels, and other irregular-shaped materials.

CNC engraving machines equipped with cameras are not limited to contour cutting. Depending on the selected configuration, the machine can also perform engraving, drilling, and milling operations.

For manufacturers processing different materials or products, this multi-function design can reduce equipment changes and simplify production. The 2133 CNC router with ATC CCD model, for example, combines CCD cutting with CNC machining functions and automatic tool changing (supporting multiple spindle/tool-holder configurations), allowing you to select different cutting tools according to your machining requirements.

Match Your Machine To Production Volume

A compact CCD CNC router can be suitable for smaller advertising and sign-making operations, while larger machines provide more working space for oversized panels and higher-volume production.

Available configurations include 1525 × 1525 mm, 1300 × 2500 mm, 1500 × 3000 mm, 2000 × 3000 mm and 2100 × 3300 mm working areas, with additional sizes available depending on the machine configuration.

What Is the Difference Between A CCD CNC Router and A Standard CNC Router?

The main difference is the vision positioning system. A standard CNC router generally relies on predefined coordinates and manual workpiece positioning, while a CCD CNC router can identify printed image edges before cutting. This makes the camera-equipped configuration particularly useful for irregular printed graphics and contour cutting.

Can A CCD Camera CNC Router Correct Material Distortion Caused by UV Printing?

Yes. Correcting material warping caused by UV printing is one of the main reasons why businesses upgrade to ElephMax CNC engraving machines equipped with CCD cameras.

During the UV printing process, materials are affected by UV curing lamps, heat and physical tension. This leads to the following types of deformation issues:

  • Non-linear stretching or shrinkage
  • Tilting or rotation
  • Shear/trapezoidal distortion

If you use a CCD camera CNC engraving machine, the system will automatically scan reference points and dynamically adjust the cutting path in real time to correct for material distortion. This ensures your every cut achieves a perfect contour, preventing white edges or damage to the design.

Is An Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) Necessary for A CNC Router with A Camera?

If your production involves only single-tool edge-following cutting, an ATC (Automatic Tool Changer) is not essential. However, if your production process comprises multiple operations (such as slotting + drilling + edge-following cutting), we strongly recommend fitting an ATC.

In addition to improving production efficiency, the key advantage of configuring ATC lies in its ability to completely eliminate micrometre-level misalignment caused by manual tool changes. If your machine utilises a CNC router with a camera for edge-following, manual tool changes can very easily result in slight clamping offset or height errors, leading to misalignment between subsequent cutting operations and visual positioning.

How Much Does A CCD CNC Router Cost?

The price depends heavily on the working size, spindle power, CCD system, ATC configuration, controller, and optional functions. As a reference, the 2133 ATC CCD model listed by ElephMax is priced at approximately $28,000–$33,000, while the smaller 1515-3S CCD configuration is listed at approximately $8,000–$10,000. A final quotation should therefore be based on your required working area and processing configuration.
