Using these, you can maximize production throughput, reduce pass counts, and handle demanding materials effortlessly.
The maximum cutting thickness of a CO₂ laser cutter depends on a number of factors, including the type of material, laser power, lens configuration, cutting speed and the condition of the equipment. For materials such as acrylic, wood and medium-density fibreboard (MDF), the thickness that can be processed typically varies depending on the equipment configuration.
For non-metallic materials, a standard 100W CO₂ laser cutter (such as the ElephMax ELECNC1390 model) can efficiently cut through acrylic and organic materials with thicknesses between 10 and 15 millimetres in a single pass; by adjusting the feed rate and assist gas settings, the maximum cutting thickness for acrylic can even reach 20 to 25 millimetres.
CO₂ lasers perform exceptionally well when processing non-metallic materials such as wood and acrylic; they operate at a wavelength of 10.6 micrometres, with laser tube lifespans ranging from 2,000 to 10,000 hours, and require regular optical path alignment. In contrast, fibre lasers specialise in processing metallic materials such as stainless steel and aluminium. Fibre lasers operate at a wavelength of 1.064 micrometres and can cut thin metal sheets at speeds up to three times faster than CO₂ lasers, whilst offering an electro-optical conversion efficiency of 30–40 per cent and a service life of over 100,000 hours with virtually no maintenance required.

Absolutely. The ElephMax CO₂ laser cutter can both cut and engrave a wide range of non-metallic materials. By adjusting the machine’s power and speed settings, you can easily switch between these two functions:
- Laser cutting: Using high power and a lower speed, the laser beam can completely cut through materials such as acrylic, wood, leather and fabric (by vaporisation or melting), thereby producing various shapes and components.
- Laser engraving: Using lower power and higher speed, the laser removes only a thin layer from the surface of the material, etching fine patterns, logos, serial numbers or text onto the material without cutting through it.
